These pages are meant to provide a link between the textbook Population Geography: Tools and Issues, and topical events or themes related to population issues. Hopefully, they will stimulate discussion and act as a resource and tool for those interested in population issues.

Bruce Newbold is professor of geography at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, where he received his PhD in 1994. He taught at the University of Illinois (1994–2000) before returning to McMaster in 2000. He has held guest scholar positions at the University of California San Diego’s Center for Comparative Immigration Studies (CCIS) and at the University of Glasgow’s Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, where he held a Journal of Urban Studies Fellowship. His research interests include migration, immigration, health, and aging, and he has received funding from NSF, SSHRC, SSRC, and CIHR. He is the Director of the School of Geography & Earth Sciences at McMaster. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, along with Six Billion Plus, which is now in its second edition.
